Instead, they are using an AI-powered system named 'Honk' that leverages generative AI and Claude Code to accelerate development workflows. The process is streamlined to the point where an engineer can initiate bug fixes or feature additions via Slack on their phone during a morning commute. This efficient workflow is credited with dramatically increasing coding and deployment speeds.
Throughout 2025, Spotify has implemented over 50 new features and continuous modifications to their streaming app. Recent AI-enhanced offerings include Prompted Playlists and Page Match for audiobooks, as well as the 'About This Song' feature.
