OpenClaw 2026.9.6 Adds Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Sol and Luna, Grok 4.7, Plus Restart Recovery
OpenClaw 2026.9.6 is out — 2,614 pull requests from 351 contributors, per the release post. The headline changes are three new chat model options, restart recovery for interrupted conversations, a full 30-day Usage report, and a read-only GitHub reader that sits beside chat.
New chat models
You can now select Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Sol and Luna, and Grok 4.7 through their supported routes. Availability and charges depend on your account and provider. Existing model selections are not changed by the upgrade.
Managed updates give clearer outcomes
Managed updates now distinguish between three states: the requested version is running, the previous version was restored, or maintenance still needs attention. A recoverable plugin warning can leave a verified new Gateway running while surfacing the repair that remains.
Restart recovery
Unfinished conversations can come back after a restart with their saved history, progress, and tool results. The leading agent checks what already happened before deciding how to continue interrupted helpers. Conversations you stopped stay stopped — the recovery path only applies to work that was cut off.
Complete 30-day Usage report
The Usage view opens with the last 30 calendar days and shows totals for the full session report you are permitted to see, not just the rows currently visible. The Started by breakdown splits tokens, estimated costs, and sessions by who started the work. Cost figures are estimates, not provider bills.
GitHub reader beside chat
The GitHub reader lets you follow public issues, pull-request discussions, commits, and diffs next to your conversation. It is read-only and public-only, so private content and edits stay on GitHub.
Files, Memory, and Skills in remote workspaces
Your agent can receive uploaded files on its paired workspace computer and return finished files in chat. Memory files and supported workspace Skills can live there too. This requires an explicitly configured host integration, the relevant permissions, and matching OpenClaw versions on both computers.
Live meeting notes
Meeting notes can update as captured speech arrives from Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or a voice capture. The saved transcript gets its own tab, and final notes arrive when capture ends. Transcription can lag, and generated notes use your configured model with its usual charges.
Optional Decision Models
Decision Models let supporting plugins choose among options or score supplied information separately from chat. They are off by default. The TypeSafe Jev plugin routes that information to TypeSafe and uses its normal API charges; an optional ONNX plugin offers local CPU-based choices.
The full release notes cover much more than these highlights.
