OpenClaw v2026.10.6 Patch Release Fixes Install, Update, and Startup Failures

OpenClaw v2026.10.6 is out as a patch release targeting the class of bugs that block the tool from installing, updating, or starting at all. The release also bundles smaller reliability and security fixes, plus a few conversation-recovery and native-app repairs.

Install and startup fixes

The patch addresses false “offline maintenance” states and database errors that could prevent a fresh setup, Doctor, or startup from proceeding. It also fixes Bun installs that were failing on an optional cleanup step, and covers Windows-specific setup and Gateway startup problems.

Update and recovery repairs

• Shutdown cleanup fixes.
• Windows source updates no longer loop through dependency links.
• Update recovery no longer stays blocked after a command failed before it even started.

Some older, already-stuck updaters still need manual recovery. If an update or database repair is blocked, the release points users to the update and recovery guide and its linked backup requirements before attempting a repair.

Discord, iPhone, and conversation fixes

Discord /status and active /steer commands failed in affected sessions with saved selections; that is now fixed. On iPhone, Talk had a crash on the first reply, plus quiet audio and spoken-interruption issues in relay conversations—both are repaired.

Conversation recovery is more resilient: queued messages and in-progress replies now survive Gateway restarts, and native app chats can resume after reconnecting. If recovery is still blocked, the release recommends using Resume in new session in WebChat, or starting a new or reset conversation in other apps.

Message duplication and loss bugs are also addressed. WhatsApp retries were being sent as new messages, and recovery could resend an answer—or warn that it was missing—after it had already arrived.
